Pink Elm Burr (Ulmus Procera) This rare wood is taken from the burrs, a growth seen on the outside of the tree where branches have not formed properly. As a result, the grain forms in swirls and curls. The colouring is caused by a fungal attack whilst the tree is still growing and it is very rare. All timber is treated and stabilised before being turned into pens.
