Yew (Taxus baccata)
Yew is considered the wood of everlasting life and continual rebirth with some trees being recorded as over 1000 years old. The orange-brown wood has an attractive grain and takes a high polish. Bog Yew is very rare and is dated to between 5000 and 6000 years old. It has very interesting and unusual grain and it is always a pleasure to turn this very fine figuring into a pen that will be treasured for years to come. The closed pen really shows the wood to good effect without the normal inclusion of an end cap and as this was a truly unique wood I included a turned end to the cap, making the pen truly 'one of a kind'.
