Ripple Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus) .A European tree introduced to Britain in the Middle Ages. The ripples form in the sapwood when the tree is subjected to environment stress, such as strong winds rocking the branches. It was under a sycamore that the Tolpuddle Martyrs met in 1834.
