Bramley’s Apple Burr (Malus domestica)
One of Britain’s most popular apple varieties, this was grown from a pip by Mary Ann Brailsford in Nottinghamshire but named for a later owner. It first bore fruit in 1837. The original tree still bears heavy crops. Now grown commercially in 500 orchards with all the trees raised from cuttings.
