Oak (Quercus robur)
The Druids held the oak tree sacred and it is still the ‘king’ of British trees. It yields a very strong timber with an attractive silvery grain. Tannins make the heartwood exceptionally durable. This wood comes from a dead Oak cut down using traditional axe and two man hand saw at ' Stock Gaylard' Oak fair in 2009. I have turned this unique pen with a turned end to show off the wonderful figuring .
